Day 1 Complete

First night in the books. Kevin has begun this journey he has been talking about for years and we are all so excited for him. Updates are coming along the way and the tracking device is up and running. And let me tell you, I am so glad he decided to get it. It is the first thing I looked at when I woke up this morning. He’s up and moving. I don’t think it has completely sunk in for me yet, but for him I am sure it has.

Right now he is making his way up the approach trail to Springer Mountain where the AT starts, and I believe he will make it there today. Hopefully we can get some pictures up.

He has received some questions about his gear, and is already talking about ditching some stuff. He’s a little pack heavy at the moment, but he’s sorting that out.

I know us here at home are excited for him, and I know he is excited. The plan for any updates and posts we make in the future are going to be a trial and error kind of thing. He doesn’t know how much service he is going to have along the way. His main goal is to try and keep a record of this journey. My goal is to keep this going and give a point of view from the homefront.
